Grand Strategy Games (CKII, Civ, Total War, Europa Univeralis) - panteradactyl - 7-4-15 Just wondering if any of my fellow LFGs played Crusader Kings II, Civ, or any other grand strategy games, and if they had any interesting stories, facts, or tips for these kinds of games. Or recommendations for similar games. To start off, I'll tell the story of Freyja Haraldrsdottir, in the world of CKII. She was born the youngest child of three sons and one other daughter, and was extremely jealous of the wealth her brothers were going to inherit, which drove her ambition to become heir. But there was a problem, Norse Pagans are restricted to even distribution of land to all their heirs, gavelkind. And women are only selected as heirs if there aren't any eligible men. All of the sudden, I receive notifications that my son has died under mysterious circumstances, however, I pay it no mind, as assassinations are fairly common. Then another son dies. I begin to wonder, as there is only one person who would benefit from all my sons being assassinated, so I have my spymaster spy on my daughter, and sure enough, he uncovers that she had created a plot to have my son killed. So what do I do? I ignore it, naturally. She was much better suited to ruling than my literal imbecile youngest son, and finally he dies, and with no males to inherit, she is selected as heir. I assume that she'd be happy there, but fast forward a few years when I'd made a few enemies changing some laws and revoking titles, I get assassinated, and switch to my heir, Freyja, who has an event popup on her screen letting me know that her assassination plot was successful. She assassinated every single male in her dynasty so she could become queen, including her own father. She was also the best military leader I ever had, on an unrelated note.
