Need gmod help

My gmod has been acting very strange lately and I have no idea whats causing this. Whenever I load a map in singleplayer or join a multiplayer game, the main menu buttons stop working. I have to exit the game for them to work again. But even more bizarre, is when I try to use chat, or type in console, any time I press the "A" key, the message gets deleted and gets replaced with the "A" I typed.

So if tried typing in "hey gang", it would instead be "ang"

Idk what's making this happen. I've tried verifying the game, uninstalling addons that updated recently in case they had some scummy stuff put in and even changed the the game's download location, but this issue keeps happening.

Have you tried resetting key bindings? options > controls > keyboard controls, and hit "Use Defaults"

no luck. I even went with a nuclear option and uninstalled all my addons. and this still happens. It's even stranger how this problem ONLY occurs when I start a SP game or join multiplayer. Before then, the main menu works normally and typing in console works fine.

I've used both the regular and chromium branch

You can try this first:
1) Delete Steam\steamapps\common\GarrysMod\garrysmod\cfg
2) verify files

If that doesn't work, go total nuclear warfare and
1) uninstall gmod
2) delete these folders:
Steam\steamapps\common\GarrysMod
Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\4000
Steam\userdata\*\4000
3) reinstall gmod

If that doesn't work, re-install windows????

I managed to get a fix, mostly. I just need to hit the keys Ctrl + A + C then the text stops resetting, and (somehow) even fixes the main menu buttons. If I open a new map, the issue comes back, but the fix still works
